Jolanta Nowak

By Robyn

Jolanta started out as a guest from Poland and soon became an essential part of International Neighbors. Her sunny personality and enthusiasm brighten up any gathering she has joined. A long time leader of the Red Oak Tea Group, she would find things to do that no one else had ever heard of, like getting a tiny museum in Ann Arbor dedicated to china tea sets to open up just for her group. She gave hundreds of guests over the years a warm welcome and happy memories for when they returned to their home countries. Jolanta served on the IN Board as Discussions Group Coordinator and was also on the IN Day Committee.

Jolanta has always been very involved in many things in Ann Arbor, especially the local Polish community. She is particularly proud of the University of Michigan Polish Film Festival, at the State Theater every October, which she helped start thirty years ago.
