Winter Welcome Appreciation

by Robyn

February 15th began with a snowy blast of winter. But by the early afternoon our very warm Winter Welcome was in place, with an excellent turnout,  and fun for all. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a success!

We had seven tables, all with a splendid array of tea and international treats. The Tea Groups organized a Founding Mothers table, ably hosted by Barb Banet, and a Lunar New Year table. Rose’s Korean fruit tea and Khadra’s Somalian coffee were a hit. And a special thanks to Lily and Hiromi. Melissa and the Special Interest groups shared a table with Shirley and Phyllis of the Newsletter team, who baked up a lavish English afternoon tea. Maja graced her Cultural Encounters table with European pastries and Martha’s Moroccan lantern. Marcy hosted the Conversation Groups table with delicious treats from Zingerman’s. She would like to especially thank Adrienne who helped set up her table. The Reading Groups table was cleverly decorated with books by Carole and Veronica and many lovely things to eat. Finally Discussion Groups and the IN Day Committee shared a table overflowing with international treats and the prettiest paper cups this side of china. A huge thanks to Mojgan and the IN Day Committee who set up such a great program every month, Kamlesh for keeping everyone supplied with hot water, and Diane, who helped with set up but could not stay for the party.

Thank you to Keiko, the Japanese Ambassador, Stephanie, and Adriana who hosted the Welcome Table at this very busy event. Adriana scrolled the photos from the Annual Meeting slideshow on her laptop, a lovely addition. And a very big thank you to all who went around the room making sure  the new members wearing red name tags were welcomed to International Neighbors.
